Upskill Study Programs Bali
Bringing higher education to a whole new level, Upskill Study Program specifies its course into moving formal classrooms to local communities abroad. Knowledge and skills to be applied to where it is needed the most to bring the most powerful effect, a real environment.
We created and designed programs that encourage cultural exchange through knowledge sharing that path the way for sustainable state-of-the-art solutions for both environment and local communities.
Semester Study Programs in Bali (16 weeks)
Upskill study programs collaborate with the Faculty of Natural Sciences (MIPA) and the Faculty of Marine Science and Fisheries (FKP) and offer study and short term programs in the following fields:
Tropical Biology & Marine Conservation Study in Bali
The course in general introduces and discusses a particular level (i.e.: Indonesia), about the ecology of the main tropical marine ecosystems, on coral reefs, seagrass beds and mangrove forests, for instances. The course is expected to give aspects deeper aspects of Marine pollution and ecosystems destruction. Furthermore, the study aims on: Oceanography and Water quality (Physical, Chemical and biological), Productivity, Global warming, Destructive fishing (catching and pearl clam culture), Oil pollution, Fish feeding pollution (Cage and pond), Physical destruction (tourism activity), IMTA (Integrated Multi-Trophic Aquaculture). Sustainability & Eco Tourism Study in Bali
Bali, as one of the leading tourist destinations in Indonesia, has its own challenges where tourism development helps the island’s economy to grow, but at the same time put its natural habitats on a threat, its marine life and its unique culture. Focusing on nature and Eco tour, the course aims to guide tourism practitioners with the most sustainable and environmental friendly manner. Theoretical lectures such as fragile ecosystems, ethics in guiding or emergency preparation & response in guiding will be given, and finally students will get hands-on experience through informal outdoor classes.
Sports & Environment Study in Bali
Divided into two parts, the ‘Sport & Environment’ semester in Bali offers compulsory and concentration courses. The compulsory courses, allows students choosing 4 offered course concentrations (Adventure & Outdoor Sport; Sport, Tourism & Environment; Sport, IT & Communication und Theoretical and practical education). Students will be able to achieve up to 30 ECTS. With its main concerns on the characteristic of outdoor education, the course is to give general teaching methods and leadership models. The focus of the course lies on the form of leadership in the nature, as well as the leadership of adventure experience. The course’s pedagogical perspective is covered by teambuilding measures, group games and orientations tasks.
Summer Courses / Short-Term Study Programs in Bali (4 weeks)
Sustainability & Ecou Tourism: The 4-week intense summer course is hoped to get the participants to recognize and understand the impact of tourism in Bali and to learn what can be done towards sustainable and eco-tourism. During the course, various field trips will be held for participants to gain deeper insights into the ongoing efforts that are created in order to reduce the negative impacts of mass tourism, at the same time to witness and preserve Bali’s main tourist attractions: its nature and cultural practices.
Mangrove Ecology, Coral Reef Restoration: Participant is offered a unique chance to get the access to a powerful block of qualified training that provide specific knowledge on mangrove and coral ecosystem. During field trips and scientific excursions participants are expected to understand the biological complexity and the importance of mangroves and corals in Bali.
